About MediaFaro

MediaFaro logo

MediaFaro is a not-for-profit initiative to support European journalism. The concept sprung from the observation that there is currently not enough of a pan-European media space. Someone in Slovenia may read more news from Kentucky than from neighbouring Croatia. We wanted to fix that.

Now, we hand-pick good articles from carefully selected high quality media across Europe and post links to our ATOM and Mastodon feeds.

Our aims

  • Shine a light on quality European journalism and news sources
  • Support European quality reporting and news media
  • Broaden people's perspectives by showing news from all across Europe
  • Prevent media bubbles by introducing people to publications they didn’t know existed

Our choices

  • We don’t do breaking news. We favour accuracy over speed, facts over speculation.
  • We don’t do opinions. There are already too many opinions in the world, most of them poor.
  • We don’t expect people to come to us, we push stories to where they are.
  • We support the choice for a paywall if that helps publications reduce their dependency on advertising.

Our journey

We started under the wing of the European Network to see if it would work in practice and if it would take off. It worked, it took off, now we’re building out.
