Firefighters were being praised for rapidly containing a fire a day after it threatened to destroy a historic mosque-turned-cathedral in the Spanish city of Córdoba.

The blaze, which broke out on Friday, was captured on video and widely shared on social media, evoking memories of the 2019 fire that almost razed France's Notre-Dame cathedral to the ground.
