Over 800 000 people expected to join French protests against budget cuts.

More than 800 000 people are expected to march on Thursday in some 250 towns and cities across France against the €44 billion in savings announced over the summer by then–Prime Minister François Bayrou.

His successor, Sébastien Lecornu, is now negotiating the outlines of the 2026 budget with the opposition.
