The European Commission on Monday opened an investigation into the AI chatbot Grok over its production of explicit deepfake images.

Grok, which is integrated into social media platform X, has been embroiled in controversy in recent weeks as it has complied with user requests to produce realistic sexualised images of individuals – including children.
