The European Union will step up efforts to diversify away from American liquefied natural gas following US President Trump’s threats to take control of Greenland, European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jørgensen said Wednesday.

The bloc’s energy chief said the threats were a “wake-up call” to find new sources of gas.
