France will host the new EU customs authority in Lille.

The northern French city of Lille was chosen by European Parliament representatives and EU member states to host a new customs authority.

The new body is part of the EU’s overhaul of its customs rules and centralise European efforts to tackle fierce pressure from a myriad of issues, including the proliferation of e-commerce.

It is expected to start work in 2028.
