An initiative to bar more than two million Russian soldiers and foreign mercenaries who have fought in Ukraine from entering the Schengen Area is expected to be presented at the next Council meeting in June, an EU official told Euractiv.

A lifelong ban will dissuade young Russian and foreign recruits, said EPP MEP Tomáš Zdechovský.
