Belgium is seeking to nationalise its nuclear power industry, Prime Minister Bart De Wever announced Thursday, in a bid to keep running parts of its ageing reactor fleet that were otherwise headed toward closure.

Governments are taking a bigger role in the sector as private operators balk at the cost and risk of ageing plants.
