Ireland’s media regulator is investigating Facebook and Instagram on suspicion that manipulative user interfaces — so-called dark patterns — are used, violating Article 27 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).

A breach could result in fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue. In Meta’s case, this would amount to up to €20 billion.
