The temporary protection scheme offers more than 4 million people who fled Ukraine the right to live, work and study in EU countries.

The scheme has been extended several times since the start of Russia’s invasion. Barring another extension, it expires in March 2027.

The fighting-age limitation wouldn’t apply to those already under protection.
