Google mega fine to slash taxpayers’ contributions to Brussels.

After years of legal wrangling, Google earlier this month paid the €4.6 billion, which amounts to over 2% of the bloc’s total budget in 2026.

The sanction, which is the EU’s largest-ever single fine, will go some way toward filling countries’ spending needs for 2026, a European Commission official confirmed to POLITICO.
