Battery-only electric vehicles are taking an increasingly large share of new car registrations.

In 2025, they accounted for 17.3% of all new passenger cars registered in the EU.

In several European countries, the share is higher than one in three according to Eurostat, but their share of the total car fleet remains very low in many countries.
