Supporters of the proposal, led by the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP), argued that Switzerland had moved too close to the European Union and NATO, particularly since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Swiss voters overwhelmingly rejected the proposal.
